I‘d heard a variety of tracks by this NZ band across a variety of shows on Radio 6 Music and decided to give their 2010 album Buffalo a proper listen. There music tends to be synth heavy and vocal harmony complex… like The Byrds meet The Beach Boys at a party hosted by Bon Iver but a whole lot more laid back. Lovely Summer music, which may seem like damning with faint praise but is often not a bad thing… and sitting on the beach at Studland Bay yesterday listening to bits of the album as the waves gently lapped it seemed pretty perfect.

And you have to like a band that can deliver a lyric like “It takes two to tango; Like an orange and a mango” with a straight face.
